Nobody can work as a professional truck driver without a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Applicants must be at least 18 years old to have a valid state driver’s license. To cross the state lines the applicant must be 21 years or older. Obtaining a Nebraska CDL involves undergoing a physical examination, taking a written knowledge exam, and demonstrating actual driving skills on the road test. Additional exams must be taken by applicants who wish to drive buses or carry hazardous materials.
