Truck Driving Schools in Utah
You can only work as a Class A truck driver in Utah if you have a Commercial Driver’s License or CDL. Obtaining a CDL in the State of Utah is a multistage process that involves complying with several federal and state requirements. Obtaining a Class A CDL involves passing a rigorous screening process. In addition, there are written exams and skills tests that one must pass before one can get a CDL. New drivers may need to enroll in truck driving training to get the skills required to pass the license tests.
All applicants are required to take and pass the General Knowledge Test. Applicants for Class A CDLs must also pass the Air Brakes test and the Combination Vehicle test. Applicants who can pass the written exams will be given a temporary permit to practice driving a truck under the supervision of a licensed driver.
Once you gain enough experience, you’ll need to schedule for your road test before your permit’s expiration. The road test is divided into a pre-trip inspection, basic skills demonstration, and on-road testing. Applicants must pass all three parts to get a CDL. Those who fail may retake the skills test by paying the non-refundable fee.
