Truck Driving Schools in Wisconsin
If you start a career as a truck driver in Wisconsin, there will be plenty of work for you to choose from. Most of the employers in this state are interstate driving employers, which mean you’ll be tasked with driving in and out of Wisconsin. Before you can start working as a truck driver, you must be at least 21 years or older to qualify for an interstate commercial driver’s license or CDL. One cannot work as a commercial truck driver without meeting all of the requirements, including receiving a physical exam and passing the knowledge and driving exams.
Applying for additional endorsements will allow drivers to do additional kinds of jobs. There are several state and federal requirements that must be met before one can obtain a full CDL from the DMV. All CDL applicants must take the General Knowledge test after passing the vision test. Additional exams will be given for each endorsement an applicant wishes to be added to his or her license. Applicants who can pass the exams will be given a temporary instructional commercial driver’s license.
Once you have a CDL, you’ll be allowed to drive a truck while under the supervision of a licensed driver. Use your instructional CDL to practice for the skills test. Applicants must schedule and take the skills exam while their instructional licenses are still valid. During the skills tests, applicants will be required to do a pre-trip inspection, demonstrate basic driving skills, and drive on a road with other cars. Applicants must pass all three parts of the skills test to get a Class A CDL.
